Chris Colfer Doesn't Want To Be 'Typecast' Or 'Pigeonholed' For Being Gay

Posted: Updated:

Chris Colfer won our hearts as a delightfully flamboyant gay teen on "Glee," but the 22-year-old actor wants America to know he can tackle other roles, too.

Promoting his new movie "Struck by Lightning," the openly gay Colfer says in a new interview, "People tried typecasting me before they even saw me in anything else. I never understood that –- why don’t you wait until my next project before you start telling what my career is going to look like for the next ten years?"

As for media emphasis on his own sexuality, Colfer adds, "I’ve never made it a big deal, it’s everyone else that’s always made it a big deal."
