The trash talking began before the Redskins and Seahawks took the field for their Wild Card showdown. It seemed to continue after game, too.
Seattle's star cornerback Richard Sherman and Washington Pro Bowler Trent Williams had some words for each other after Seattle's 24-14 win. While only those two and maybe a few people nearby know what was said during the brief exchange, the FOX broadcast let everyone see how it ended: Williams pushed Sherman hard in the face and neck. After the blow from Williams, Sherman backed up with his hands high and a smile on his face.
As Tom Brady can attest, Sherman can be quite chatty after a victory.
After the Seahawks edged the Patriots earlier in the regular season, Sherman went right up to Brady and started talking to the disinterested New England quarterback. After he got hold of a photo of himself chirping at Brady, Sherman took it even further on Twitter.
On the Friday before this Wild Card game, Redskins defensive tackle Kedric Golston was quoted by USA Today calling Sherman a "cheater" in relation to his PED issues with the NFL this season. While the NFL wiped away the suspension after an appeal, perhaps the Redskins needed more convincing.
UPDATE: Williams said after he left the field that the heated exchange between him and Sherman was his fault.
"It's nobody's fault but mine. I've got to calm down a little bit. It's just, when you lose a game like this with high intensity, you are on edge, and I reacted in an immature manner," Williams said, via Dan Graziano of ESPN.com.
Sherman later tweeted that he received a "very classy text" from Williams.
