Actress Claire Danes won't be leaving "Homeland" to stay at home with her baby anytime soon.
In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Danes revealed that she is not suited for the stay-at-home-mom lifestyle.
“I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now," the actress, who gave birth to a baby boy on Dec. 17, told Elle. "When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it ... I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus ... that I wanted to act.”
The Elle interview certainly clears up rumors claiming that Danes, who plays Carrie Mathison on hit Showtime series "Homeland," might quit the show to stay home with her son.
Late last week, Gossip Cop picked up a report from The National Enquirer claiming that Danes was “secretly planning to leave the show" after next season. “Before [her son] Cyrus was born, Claire would have never thought about giving up her role on ‘Homeland’ because she thought she’d be able to juggle her job with being a mom," a source allegedly told the Enquirer, per Gossip Cop. "But now she doesn’t want to leave her son."
The Enquirer's source added that the 33-year-old "Homeland" star received a salary hike after executives heard she wanted to leave, but that she now reportedly regrets signing on for a third season. However, Gossip Cop also turned up its own source, claiming that Danes would not leave "Homeland" after Season 3.
Danes, who is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama, did admit that there were some difficulties playing the grueling Showtime role while pregnant.
"If I stop to consider how many demands there are, I will kind of collapse. So I just... I refuse to," she told Rolling Stone in October. "One of the challenges is not ever being able to assume anything about what's going to be asked of you. So you just have to surf the scripts that come in and the narrative and also just the practicalities of how we're going to lay that narrative down, you know? And how much it's going to need and when."
"Homeland" was renewed for a third season in October, according to a previous report from The Hollywood Reporter. Season 3, which will consist of 12 one-hour episodes, will begin shooting in the spring.
