Notre Dame Blowout Reactions: Irish Coach Brian Kelly Begins Jokes, Twitter Continues (TWEETS)

BCS Blowout Reactions: Even The Irish Coach Was Joking About It

With Notre Dame trailing 28-0 after two quarters, Irish head coach Brian Kelly attempted to lighten the mood with a bit of humor when asked how his team could rally after the intermission.

"Um, maybe Alabama doesn't come back in the second half," the 2012 AP Coach of the Year quipped to Heather Cox of ESPN. "It's all Alabama. I mean, we can't tackle them right now. And who knows why? They're big and physical — I guess I do know why."

Unfortunately for Kelly and the Irish, Alabama did return to the field for the second half. To the surprise of no one, least of all Kelly, the Tide kept rolling to a 42-14 win. And so did the jokes. With Kelly occupied on the Notre Dame sideline, the Twittersphere picked up the slack. Here are a few of the humorous takes on Notre Dame's performance and the uneven BCS title game.
