Having already won two NBA MVP Awards, Steve Nash doesn't really need to add anything else to his resume to solidify his claim as one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game. But that hasn't stopped him from racking up assist after assist. On Tuesday night, the Lakers' point guard recorded his 10,000th career assist.
Needing five assists to reach the milestone before the Lakers tipped off in Houston, Nash found Antawn Jamison on a pick-and-roll for an easy bucket in the second quarter for his fifth assist.
Nash became the fifth player to ever reach the mark, joining Mark Jackson, Jason Kidd, Magic Johnson and John Stockton in the exclusive 10-K club.
With the milestone dime coming in a loss to the Rockets, reaching the milestone was bittersweet.
"It's really hard to enjoy it right now,'' Nash said of the assists, via the Associated Press. '"I don't want to discredit it, or not appreciate the company I share in this milestone, but right now it's the farthest thing from my mind. We're just trying to find a way to win one game."
