Linda Davis, Tamarac Woman Shot By Deputy, Shot And Killed Another Woman: Police (VIDEO)

WATCH: Two Women Shot Dead, One By Deputy

Two women have been shot and killed in Tamarac -- one, by a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy.

Investigators say Linda Davis, 60, shot a woman inside her home in the quiet 4700 block of Northwest 44th Street Wednesday morning. But when a responding deputy arrived at the property, he found the deceased woman face-down in the yard -- and Davis came out of the house with a gun.

A confrontation ensued during which the deputy, who has not been named, fired and killed Davis.

"He approached the female, he ordered her to drop the weapon repeatedly, she did not," explained newly-installed Broward Sheriff Scott Israel, who responded to the scene. "The deputy fired at least one shot, that female is deceased."

Deputies in Tamarac were familiar with Davis, the agency said, having responded to her home 79 times since March 2008 on calls for suspicious incidents, a mentally ill person, medical calls, information, breaking and entering, and disturbances, among other reasons.

It is not yet known what her relationship was to the dead woman.

Davis's brother told the Miami Herald his sister, whom he never knew to have a gun, "had a condition" and needed to take "heavy medication."

“Police have come here, restrained her, and taken her to the hospital before," he said. “They took her to keep her from hurting herself."

This is a developing story.
