A group of young women have been choking and robbing taxi drivers after hailing cabs in Chicago's Loop and being driven to the city's South Side, police warned Wednesday.
According to DNAinfo Chicago, a group of six to seven black women aged 16 to 20 have attacked and robbed cab drivers at knifepoint in at least two separate incidents in the new year.
Police say the women, upon arrival at their destination, have pulled out a knife and wrapped a cord around the driver's neck before demanding money and fleeing the scene, the Associated Press reports. The attacks have occurred near the 4700 block of South King Drive.
A cab driver told Fox Chicago that news of the robbery attacks did not surprise him -- and that he's been robbed in the past.
Anyone with information about the attacks should call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
