Nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards were announced this morning, and the list proved that -- in Hollywood -- age is just a number.

Two nominees in the “Best Actress” category made history by becoming the oldest and youngest actors ever nominated for Oscars. At the age of 85, Emmanuel Riva was nominated for her role as Anne in “Amour." She is the same age as the awards ceremony itself. Meanwhile, Quvenzhane Wallis was nominated for her role as Hushpuppy in "Beasts of the Southern Wild" at the mere age of 9.

Of course, Riva wasn’t the only post 50 actor nominated. High-profile actors including Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro and Sally Field were nominated for their respective roles in "Flight," "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Lincoln."

For a full list of boomer actors who were nominated, see our slideshow below. The 85th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on February 24, 2013.
