Cory Booker Files Papers For Senate

Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker has filed papers to create a campaign committee to the Federal Election Commission, further signaling that the mayor is running for U.S. Senate in 2014.

The committee, "Cory Booker for Senate," submitted its papers on Tuesday.

Booker has not officially announced that he is running for Senate. However, in a Newark Star-Ledger op-ed on Dec. 20, he said that he was exploring the possibility.

Booker is aiming to run for the seat held by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), who will be 90 in 2014. But Lautenberg hasn't announced that he's retiring or running yet.

The Newark mayor said Monday on CNN that Lautenberg has a "decision to make" about whether to run again, but he wants to "give him the space" to do so. A recent poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind showed Booker leading Lautenberg by a 42-20 margin in a head-to-head matchup.

When reached by The Huffington Post, the mayor's office indicated it would provide comment shortly.

UPDATE: 4:45 p.m. -- Booker's political director Mark Matzen told The Huffington Post in a statement later Friday that the filing is part of the consideration for a Senate run.

"Today, Mayor Booker filed papers to be prepared for a possible US Senate campaign, but his focus remains on completing his vision for a revitalized Newark -- more than a billion dollars in economic development this year alone, reforming education for our kids, building housing and parks, and continuing to make progress in reducing crime and violence in the city," Matzen said. "As part of the process of exploring a possible senate run, the law requires any expenses in such an exploration to come from a federal account."

NJ is my home state and where I am registered. Feel funny about this as Frank Lautenberg has been one the strongest allies of the LGBT and although he is now in his late 80's, he still has not decided if he is running or not for reelection. Cory is one of my very favorite new politicians, and Frank one of my very favorite old politicians. Sad to see Frank go and if he was interested in running again, this would be an awkward situation. Should Cory have waited for Frank's decision? me thinks so.

1. He laid-off 167 officers in 2010 claiming Newark had a deficit knowing Crime was HIGH! Putting Newark Residents in Harms Way 2. He laid-off over 200 Newark Residents in 2010 claiming the same deficit issue but; Cory Booker and Modia Butler turns around and hires the same amount of personnel through a Temporary Agency to fill the Newark Residents seats they had just laid-off. 3. Cory Booker claims that the Zuckerberg 100 Million matching funds email account had no existence but later was told by the Judge to submit those emails to the ACLU IT'S A STRANGE the emails suddenly appeared and it shows how greedy Cory is 4. Cory Booker comes into the City Council Chambers to cast an illegal Vote; later to be told by the Judge it was illegal and his VOTE did not count.- A RIOT OCCURED. Now Cory Booker shows he has no loyality to his own democratic party. Let me just say this: Cory Booker won't run against a Republican (GOVERNOR CHRISTIE) but he will run against a democrat (Senator Lautenberg). You must understand that Cory Booker likes to start division within a tight knit organization. He did the same thing with L'Chaim while in Oxford. Cory Booker would surely divide the Senate. And to top it off Cory Booker can't get the support from the city he is Mayor in. Cory Booker is a MARKETING MAN - NOT MAYOR NOR SENATE!!!

What does this have to do with Booker? BTW, under the French Haiti had a booming economy and was a wealthy nation. Since they became independent their economy has progressively gotten worse due to the endemic corruption of its rulers and it's now the poorest nation in the continent. They didn't need US aid in helping to destroy the country, they did it all on their own.

Cory Booker?!?! This guy is not to be trusted. Booker truly IS the closest thing to a Real Life "Manchurian Candidate".

Booker is a puppet of Wall Street, the Big Banks, and especially Hedge Funders.

His biggest backers---right from the very beginning of his career---were two Ultra-Right-Wing "foundations": The Manhattan Institute and the Bradley Foundation.

Booker, some of them even admitted, was "perfect for what we needed": a young, smart, African-American man who took a progressive stance on two or three issues that don't cost a dime and give him the surface image of a "liberal"; yeah, right.

Look CLOSELY at Cory "The Big Fake" Booker's career. Don't buy the Mainstream Media hype and BS on this guy.

Cory Booker is a sellout to companies trying to privatize our public schools.
