Gael García Bernal And Diego Luna Show Off Their Friendship In New Film Project (VIDEO)

Gael García And Diego Luna Take Their Bromance To The Big Screen

They have been friends for years, and now Mexican actors Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna are looking to showcase the special bond of true male friendship in a new film project.

The artists’ production company Canana Films, which most recently co-produced the Chilean film “No,” nominated to the Academy Awards as Best Foreign Language Film, has team up with Chivas to produce two short films about modern brotherhood.

Produced by Pablo Cruz, Julian Levin and Arturo Sampson and written by Alonso Ruizpalacios, the film is set in Mexico and explores themes of trust, forgiveness and acceptance in friendship. It follows the adventures of three long-time friends who after some time apart reconnect and explore how they have changed individually –- and what impact this has on their relationship.

This is the first time both actors have worked together behind the camera. Each one has taken a section of the story to direct and tell on their own way and style. The first film, directed by Luna will be released on January 28, and the second concluding part, directed by García Bernal, will air on February 18.

“We founded Canana so that we could work with our friends to make films in a way that felt different. Gael is like a brother to me, so it will always be exciting to work hand in hand," said Luna in a press release.
