As indicated in his tweets, this is not Scott's first battle with cancer. He first faced the illness in 2007 after an emergency appendectomy revealed a malignancy that was treated with chemotherapy.

"I'm not the type of guy to let this eat up my life. I've got strong faith and family and friends who are tackling this with me," Scott said during his 2008 treatment, via "I can't find the words to express how much I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. I probably won't be able to get back to you all; but know it means a ton."

Scott again underwent chemotherapy in 2011 after doctors discovered more cancerous tissue. In 2011, Scott also announced his treatment on Twitter.
