Alec Baldwin Almost Quit '30 Rock' After Season 5 Creative Slump

Why Alec Baldwin Wanted To Quit '30 Rock'

"It was the low point," he told "Rolling Stone." "Though even anemic '30 Rock' writing is still better than everybody else's writing. I go, 'I'm going to get the fuck out of here, I'm done,' because I'm an employee, I don't have any say. So Season 5 ends, and I'm saying 'Next year, I'm done,' then I come back, and Season 6 is really good, we all had fun again."

Baldwin said his outlook changed even more when he met his wife, Hilaria. He even tweeted about his desire to continue.

Baldwin made headlines in 2011 when he announced 2012 would see the NBC sitcom end. However, he went on to blog about wanting "30 Rock" to last forever ... or at least for five more seasons.

"30 Rock" wraps its seven-year run on Thursday, Jan. 31 with a one-hour finale at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
