Sara Aldridge of Greening Of Detroit Talks Nothing Elegant And Urban Farming: My Detroit

My Detroit is a series of Q&A profiles with our favorite denizens in and around the D.

It's easy to say you love Detroit. But Sara Aldridge actually lives it.

By day, she brings the Greening of Detroit mission to kids all over the Motor City, helping plant an awareness for urban farming, healthy eating and, of course, more trees in the next generation of Detroiters.

When she's not painting the town green, Aldridge is half of the fearsome DJ twosome, "Nothing Elegant." Along with Detroit SOUP's Amy Kaherl, she's turned her love for '90s music, sweaty dancing and DJ girl power into one of the city's most vibrant dance nights.

Listen to Kaherl's Nothing Elegant-approved party playlist on Spotify.

"I feel a real sense of community," Aldridge says of her neighborhood. And no doubt -- she's helping create it.

Click through the slideshow to read our Q&A with Sara, including her collection obsession, late-night Coney pick and what '90s record she calls her go-to DJ anthem.
