As much fun as it’ll be to watch Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars next month, we’d much rather be in the company of Zoe Saldana for the Academy’s technical awards. The smaller ceremony will honor some of Hollywood’s most talented behind-the-scenes players and be co-hosted by Chris Pine.
Set to take place February 9, the “Sci-Tech Awards” (as they’re commonly called) will present statuettes to 25 post-production filmmakers. And having Star Trek’s Zoe and Chris on board will certainly add some excitement to the evening.
“We are thrilled to have Chris and Zoe host the Sci-Tech Awards,” Academy president Hawk Koch told The Hollywood Reporter. “Their film experience with the kind of technical advancements these awards honor makes them the perfect pair for the job.”
Even though the Sci-Tech Awards won’t be broadcast live, highlights from the evening will air during the Oscars telecast. And we’ll be able to see even more of Saldana and Pine this summer in Star Trek: Into Darkness.
