Today is the birthday of psychedelic goddess and raucous rock icon, Janis Joplin. The front woman of groups like the Full Tilt Boogie Band and Big Brother and the Holding Company would turn 70 years old if she were still magically alive today.

The Texas-born legend has managed to remain an influential force in music over the last four decades since her death, with some of the best songwriters in the business citing Ms. Joplin as an icon, including Stevie Nicks, Florence Welch and Joss Stone. But it's not just the actual music that's fallen under her spell. No, from Ke$ha's whiskey-drinking ways to Fiona Apple's onstage freak-outs, the legacy of Janis Joplin can be seen in trends across the music world and popular culture in general.

So in celebration of Joplin' birthday, we've put together a slideshow of 10 pop culture trends inspired by Joplin herself. Scroll through the list below and let us know what you think about the soulful singer's ubiquitous presence in the comments section.
