'Happy Endings' Schedule Change; Airing Back-To-Back On Tuesday After 'Don't Trust The B' Pulled

'Happy Endings' To Air Back-To-Back After 'Apt. 23' Cancelation

Back-to-back episodes of "Happy Endings" will air Tuesday nights in the 9 p.m. hour starting January 29, with an extra episode of the ensemble comedy replacing the pulled James Van Der Beek comeback vehicle at 9:30 p.m. Both shows will be pre-empted on January 22 in favor of the premiere of ABC's new cooking competition show "The Taste."

The scheduling shift is only the latest chapter in ABC's attempt to find a consistent timeslot for the cult comedy. "Happy Endings" premiered in 2011 on Wednesday nights in the cushy post-"Modern Family" slot, but moved to Tuesday nights for its third season. ABC then left "Happy Endings" off its midseason schedule as of March, creating several "extra episodes" that they have tried to "burn off" since.

The network briefly experimented with airing the extra episodes on Sunday nights, but cut that experiment short after they delivered series-low ratings.

So now ABC's Tuesday night lineup will feature a double dose of "Happy Endings" during the 9 p.m. hour ... until the "Dancing With The Stars: Results Show" pushes them off the schedule on March 26, or the network changes its mind again.

"Happy Endings" returns on Tuesday, January 29 with back-to-back episodes starting at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
