Marcia Gay Harden Is Headed To 'The Newsroom'

Marcia Gay Harden is taking on the news.

According to EW
, the actress is headed to "The Newsroom" as Rosemarie DeWitt's replacement on the HBO series. Harden will recur as Rebecca Halliday, a litigator who defends Atlantis Cable News in a wrongful termination suit.

Harden's other recent TV appearances include "TRON: Uprising," "Bent," "Body Of Proof" and more.

Daniel Gillies has joined the "Vampire Diaries" spinoff. Gillies has landed a lead role on the CW pilot "The Originals." He'll play Elijah alongside Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley) and Joseph Morgan (Klaus). [THR]

James Brolin has booked a role on "Castle." Brolin is set to appear as Castle's father in a two-part episode in February. Details of his appearance are being kept under wraps. [TV Guide]
