Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney did not attend the inauguration of President Barack Obama Monday, but he was in Washington, D.C., on Friday.

The Romneys attended a celebration in their honor held by Catherine Reynolds and Bill Marriott Jr., the executive chairman of Mariott Hotels, where Romney serves on the board of directors.

“We lost, but I’m not going away,” he told the crowd, according to Politico. “I will continue to help.”

Romney said he would help GOP candidates in 2013, 2014 and 2016, according to the Boston Globe.

The event was closed to the press.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his wife, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Sen. John Kyl (R-Ariz.) and former Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-Texas) were all seen in the Mariott Hotel where the event was held, according to ABC News.
