New York City's streak of consecutive days without a homicide ended at nine on Saturday when a man was found shot to death in a Queens basement apartment, police said.

NYPD officers rushed to the Corona apartment at 97-28 57th Ave. about 6 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a man bleeding inside, police said.

Cops found the unidentified victim unconscious with a gunshot wound to his head, police said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

No arrests had been made as of Saturday night.

No homicides were recorded in the five boroughs between Jan. 16 and Jan. 25 -- during a cold snap -- surpassing an 8-day homicide-free streak in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy last year, police said. The streaks were the longest in recent memory for the NYPD, police said.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly on Friday said police were happy to get an assist from the frigid temperatures.

"To the extent that weather plays a role, great," Kelly said. "We are rooting for more cold weather." ___
