Hillary Clinton 2016 Super PAC Launched

Posted: Updated:

Speculation abounds surrounding Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's future ambitions, but one group of fans has already launched a super PAC anticipating a potential 2016 presidential campaign.

The group, "Ready for Hillary," filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission Friday. Professor and historian Allida Black is leading the super PAC, the Center for Public Integrity reported.

Black described the super PAC as a small coalition of supporters of Clinton and President Barack Obama, ready and waiting to aid Clinton in a future campaign.

"Our purpose is simple: we are ready to work for Hillary to be president when she is ready to run. When our website launches in a few weeks, we plan to reach out to our grassroots networks and contributors to mobilize them to support her," Black told the Center for Public Integrity.

"Ready for Hillary" has yet to launch a website, but does have a Twitter account with approximately 50,000 followers as of Tuesday. But Black made it clear that this group does not represent any of Clinton's advisers -- just fans.

“This is not a coordinated overture from ‘Hillaryland,'” she said, according to CNN.

Clinton dodged questions about a potential 2016 run when she appeared Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes" with Obama.

"The president and I care deeply about what's going to happen for our country in the future, and I don't think, you know, either he or I can make predictions about what's going to happen tomorrow or the next year," Clinton said in the interview.
