How can you kick your smoking habit, or help a loved one avoid cigarettes? When Chief Medical Editor for NBC News Dr. Nancy Snyderman visited me on Mondays With Marlo, she stressed the importance of having a support system. Nicotine is highly addictive, and triggers like sex, alcohol and stress can't always be avoided.
Dr. Snyderman recommended using Nicorette, and mentioned that you can use a patch simultaneously. If you can go five days without smoking, you'll know that you are over the chemical addiction. The next step is resisting when triggers are present.
