Kathy Ireland Rejects Catholic Blogger's Anti Gay Marriage Argument

Supermodel Kathy Ireland is not bending to any pressure to join the fight against same-sex marriage.

When Catholic blogger Thomas Peters, who cites affiliation with the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and CatholicVote.org, attempted to refute Ireland's defense of same-sex marriage by invoking "facts" about anti-abortion choices, the former cover girl stood her ground.

Ireland may seem like an optimal target for anti-gay movements because the "Sports Illustrated" legend is an anti-abortion advocate, but the Evangelical Christian supermodel is not easily swayed.

"You have to figure out your own values and why you have them," she told Fox News in 2009. "People are going to try and push and pull at your convictions, so you have to have boundaries and put them in place."

Ireland has been an advocate for gay rights in the past.

In 2010, she recorded an "It Gets Better" message in support of the Trevor Project, an organization offering crisis inervention and suicide prevention among lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual and questioning youth.
