Colbert Teases GOP's Newfound Hispanic Outreach Efforts (VIDEO)

'They're Trying To Get Citizenship, Not An Assault Weapon'

Based on their support for immigration reform, Republicans in Congress appear to have taken the lessons of the 2012 election to heart and have stopped totally ignoring Hispanics. Or, in Stephen Colbert's words, "Latino immigrants deserve the same benefits -- Social Security, Medicare, public education -- that all Americans are slowly losing."

But give Obama an inch, and he'll take a mile. A gay mile. The president wants to allow for same-sex couples to receive the same immigration benefits as straight couples, and Colbert thinks that's going too far. "I believe in American exceptionalism," he said. "And this is an insult to American gays, who I may not approve of, but who I believe are the gayest in the world."

Check out a clip from last night's "Colbert Report" to see how serious Republicans have become with regard to immigration reform.
