Former 49er and Super Bowl champ Ronnie Lott is getting over Sunday's loss one JELL-O at a time.
Lott partnered with JELL-O for a highly publicized citywide "pudding surprise." He dished out free cups to 49er fans at Broadway and Columbus Ave. Despite Sunday's loss, Lott remains optimistic about his team.
"It's not done," Lott told The Huffington Post. "When you get this close, to get to taste it, to smell it, they're even more pumped up about the opportunity to be Super Bowl champs."
A long time 49er, Lott is no stranger to the Super Bowl. Throughout his 10 seasons with the team, he took home four super bowl wins and eight division titles.
Regardless of the outcome, Lott is proud of the current players.
"Watching how close they got and watching how hard they worked to get back in the game? It was really great to see that," Lott said. "They showed their pride and they didn't quit."
Lott posed for photos and lobbed cups of chocolate JELL-O pudding to 49er fans.
"The fact that I got to see Ronnie Lott is helping me a little bit more than the JELL-O," 49er fan Jillian Salamy told the HuffPost."
Interacting with the fans reminded Lott of the things that distinguish San Francisco sports fans from the rest.
"Niners fans not only understand what it's like to win, but they also understand what it's like to lose," Lott said. "As long as you're giving your best, I think that they appreciate that."
