Like everybody's favorite hair chameleon, Rihanna, I get bored pretty easily sporting the same hairstyle month after month. Hey, it's just hair! Why not have fun coloring it, cutting it and curling it? That is, until it starts to fall out. But for many celebrities, maintaining a signature hairdo is part of their allure.
Red-carpet stunners such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Chastain never fail to catch our eye with their sexy, side-swept hairstyles. Whether worn in deep waves or loose curls, a side part helps to modernize the old Hollywood look, according to celebrity hairstylist Lorenzo Martin.
Martin perfected Lopez's side-part, side-swept hairstyle at the 2013 Golden Globes by conditioning and prepping the hair with L’Oréal Paris EverCurl Sculpt & Hold Cream-Gel. Then he curled small sections with a one-inch curling iron, gently spritzing on beach spray for hold and texture. Martin pinned each curl to the scalp using a bobby pin and sprayed L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Strong Hold about six inches away from the scalp. Curls were set for 15 minutes, then released. He used a medium round brush to brush out the curls and build volume. Next, Martin created a deep side part and used hair pins to hold strands off to one side. A blast of strong hold styling spray helped to set the hairdo with a shiny finish.
