Daniel Villasenor, Mailman, Allegedly Choked Young Girl For Taunting Him

Wait a minute...

A Los Angeles, Calif. mailman allegedly choked an 11-year-old girl who was taunting him for accidentally walking into a women's bathroom, LA Weekly reported.

Daniel Villasenor, 55, was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of cruelty to a child, according to a Los Angelos County Sherrif's Department release.

Several witnesses confirmed that they saw Villasenor -- who has been a Postal Service employee for 31 years -- "get angry and choke the young girl" after she'd been laughing at him at a park.

Neighbors told NBC Los Angeles that Villasenor was "a hell of a guy" who'd never shown behavior like this before. Other residents described him as pleasant and friendly to KTLA.

As of Wednesday, Villasenor remained in jail with bail set at $100,000. He has been placed on unpaid leave.

CLARIFICATION: The wording of the story has been changed to make more clear that Villasenor was an employee of the Postal Service for 31 years, not 31 years old.
