Horrific Texas Rape: Teen Girl Left So Bloody, Witnesses Thought She Was Wearing Red Dress

Rape Victim Left So Bloody, Mistaken For Wearing Red Dress

A teen in Cypress, Texas was brutally beaten and raped by a stranger near her high school. When she was able to escape and find help, the naked girl was covered in so much blood that witnesses believed she was wearing a red dress.

The 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, had left her home at around 11 p.m. Tuesday after an argument with one of her family members, KHOU reported.

"She says that she hears someone walking up behind her,” Deputy Tamez told News 92 FM. When the girl turned around, an unidentified man hit her with a blunt object. He then dragged her into a wooded area, where he continued to brutally beat her before sexually assaulting her.

Tamez said there was "no doubt in his mind" that the man's intent was to kill her. The girl, he told KHOU, was able to save herself by playing dead. She told officers she stayed completely still while the man stood over her, trying to make sure she had died.

After the man left, the girl managed to walk for half a mile until she arrived at a movie theater, where she sought help.

The girl was naked, according to KTRK, but witnesses mistook the huge amount of blood on her body for a red dress.

A helicopter rushed the girl to a hospital, where she is now in the ICU in critical but stable condition.

The suspect is described as as white male in his early 20's, with light-colored eyes, with either a muscular build or a thin muscular build. According to KTRK, he is from between 5'7" and 5,8", though News 92 FM reports he is about 5' 10".

Anyone with information is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-755-6044, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story mistakenly read, "When the girl turned around, an identified man began to assault her with a blunt object." It should have read (and now reads) "an unidentified man."
