Katie Holmes' relationship with Fashion Week has been very on-again, off-again.
First she announced she'd be showing for her line, Holmes & Yang, at New York Fashion Week. Then the brand wasn't on the Fashion Week calendar, prompting speculation she'd be a no-show. Finally Holmes announced she was downsizing to "an intimate appointment only format" instead.
And by intimate, she meant intimate. On Thursday, Katie hosted an exclusive coterie of fashion editors to the Holmes & Yang Fall 2013 presentation, an experience Women's Wear Daily described thusly:
She offered coffee, made tea upon request, and invited everyone to take off their shoes if they liked — she already had. “Mine hurt,” she said, acknowledging her stocking feet — navy tights that matched her dusty blue plaid dress from this season’s Holmes & Yang line.
We appreciate a laid-back vibe and all, but does that sound a little gross to anyone else besides us?
In any event, we bet Katie's relieved just to have the whole thing over. The Spring 2013 collection of Holmes & Yang received only limited praise in September (Style.com said the clothes "didn't exactly add up to a complete collection") and WWD noted that this season's understated items, while chic, are the kind that "might get lost on the runway." Now with her job at Fashion Week complete, Katie can return to what she does best: hanging out in NYC with Suri.
Also, just for fun: Remember this?
