The resignation of Pope Benedict XVI has affected millions of faithful Catholics all over the world, but perhaps none are feeling the sting as deeply as Stephen Colbert.
The host was baffled on Monday, trying to wrap his mind around the news (which he learned of from his regular morning visit to this very site), but found himself in even more of a tizzy attempting to discern who might replace the departing holy father. One thing he was certain of: the new pope should definitely be an American.
