Connor Bird, son of Boston Celtics icon Larry Bird, was arrested on Sunday at Indiana University and faces multiple charges, according to the various reports.
The 21-year-old allegedly tried to hit his ex-girlfriend with a car. Chief Keith Cash of the Indiana University Police Department told the Indianapolis Star that Bird faces charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, battery with injury and criminal mischief.
According to TheIndyChannel.com, Bird was taken to Monroe County Jail after his arrest.
Campus police indicated that the pair argued earlier on Sunday at Bird's apartment, where he threw a cell phone at the woman and it hit her in the wrist, according to TMZ. Bird allegedly attempted to hit her with his cars after a subsequent argument later on Sunday in a parking lot near the ex-girlfriend's apartment.
"It is a private matter we are hoping to resolve as quickly as possible," said Bird's attorney, John Tompkins, via TheIndyChannel.com. 'We are happy no one was seriously hurt."
TMZ noted that Bird was reportedly arrested in 2011 for underage drinking and disorderly conduct.
