'Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan': Giant Bat-Eating Centipede

Dominic Monaghan managed to find a very wild thing on the latest episode of "Wild Things." He'd traveled to Venezuela to try and find a scolopendra giganta. These enormous centipedes actually eat bats. The creatures are dangerously venomous and "are known to be very aggressive and also nervous," according to Red Orbit.

This didn't stop Dominic, who trekked through a couple of bat-feces covered caves until he found one. Even better, he found the centipede doing what it's best known for. It's head was fully buried in the body of a bat.

Fearless, Dominic got up close to the centipede to watch it feast. "This is what I came all the way to Venezuela to see," he said. "Look at it digging in. Half of its head is inside this bat right now."

The centipedes can grow up to 12 inches long and live for ten years, according to Animal Diversity Web. And, as Dominic learned, they aren't really all that nervous mid-meal. Or perhaps they're just incredibly focused.

See what Dominic Monaghan finds next on "Wild Things," Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on BBC America.
