Dwight Howard for Rajon Rondo? The Lakers and Celtics working together? Could this really happen?
Ken Berger of CBS Sports reported on Friday night that the longtime rivals have engaged in "preliminary trade discussions" involving the two All-Stars.
This report came just hours after Berger tweeted that Howard said Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak told him he wouldn't be dealt.
Kupchak later denied the CBS Sports report to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.
"I haven't talked to Danny Ainge in weeks," Kupchak said, via ESPN. "I made the statement a week or two ago that we're not going to trade Dwight Howard and that hasn't changed."
Kupchak went on to say that he and the Boston organization haven't discussed trading Howard for Rondo at any point this season.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers also refuted the report to Darren M. Haynes of WHDH 7 News.
Fact or fiction, would such a deal help both teams?
