There are the obvious culprits: too-big buns, too-stiff hair and smokey eye makeup gone overboard. See who avoided these beauty pitfalls (and those who didn't) in our red carpet beauty roundup. And don't forget to vote for your favorite!
Now this is Hollywood glamour. Her soft waves, liquid liner and red lipstick exude the perfect amount of vintage appeal. Well done, Chastain!
This is our favorite kind of up-do: Soft and effortless. Adams' understated makeup is the perfect complement.
Amy Adams (from the side)
It wouldn't be a KStew hairstyle without a messy flip to one side. The reddish hue is coming off a little too coppery.
We love Sally Field, but the hair is coming off as a little rumpled. A lightly sleeker style would have avoided this problem.
Garner's look needs a bolder lip color. The whole effect is washing her out. A bold rose-hued lipstick would instantly brighten up her look.
Here's an example of taking an extremely casual hairstyle and totally making it work on the red carpet. Klum's hair looks shiny and healthy, and her inky-dark lashes only enhance the look.
Finally, bright lips on the red carpet. Queen Latifah looks fantastic with super long lashes and a sleek hair.
Still the best hair in the business. We applaud Aniston for basically wearing the hairstyle she wears everyday.
JHud stuns in blunt bangs and super-straight, super-long hair. With the intricate earrings and dress, she was smart to wear a simple makeup look.
This is classic Halle Berry: The faux-hawk, the sultry eye makeup, the nude lip. No complaints, here.
The super-straight style just makes her look dated. To avoid fried ends, she should have gone for a soft, loose wave.
Oh girl. What's going on here? The Cinnabon-size bun and the smudgy eye makeup ... this feels seriously off for the usually stunning Hayek.
Catherine Zeta Jones
The actress' lashes are too spidery, and her extensions look shiny and fake. A softer approach all around would have produced better results.
Sticking with what she knows, Adele stuns in her usual retro hair and makeup.
The loose, low hairstyle is refreshing, but something just feels a little droopy with her eye look.
We feel like a softer hairstyle, or even an updo, would have been a better choice for "The Sessions" star. She could have also used a bit more color to liven up her makeup look.
We're feeling the loose updo and simple makeup. Perfect for the space-agey dess.
We're on the fence about the Kiebs faux bob. The length is nice, but a loose updo might have looked less Shirley Temple.
Theron kind of looks like Tin Tin here (or Ross from "Friends" circa 1998), but we're partial to this growing-out phase. It ain't easy.
The bright pink lip is the perfect complement to her light pink dress. And we're loving the fuller pixie cut on the "Les Mis" star.
Easy there, McCarthy. We're getting a Delta Burke vibe from all this hair.
Helena Bonham Carter
At this point, we wouldn't expect to see anything less than a full-blown rats nest hairstyle on Helena Bonham Carter. The star clips are an interesting (if juvenile) touch.
The "Les Miserables" star stuns in a wispy, loose updo. The hair and lavender eyeshadow strike the perfect balance with her intricately-detailed dress.
This is a safe move for J.Law, but it totally works. After some more risque red carpet looks recently, we applaud the subtlety.
And 'Best Moustache' title goes to...
There's definitely a trend tonight with lots of stars wearing their hair down. Washington looked stunning with a simple makeup look that focused on her eyes.
Witherspoon looks radiant with soft waves, dark lashes and a pale pink lip.
There's lots of loose waves on the red carpet tonight, and Saldana shows us how to do it right. Deep side part + simple makeup = perfection.
The epitome of adorable: Quvenzhané Wallis pairs a curly updo with a pearl headband.
The GMA host was a vision in blue tonight. With sapphire eyeshadow and neutral lip gloss, Roberts absolutely glowed.
The star's bun is on the larger side, but her sultry eye makeup is nicely balanced with a neutral glossy lip.
The singer's fringe is a little too heavy and long, which covers up her dramatic eye makeup.
The E! host looks a million times better without her go-to extensions. The orange eyeshadow is throwing us off, but for the most part, this is a really good (and unexpected) look for Rancic.
There's a whole of hair happening here, Maria. Something with a little less volume would have had a sleeker effect.
Oh, Kelly. The plastered-down helmet look isn't doing much for your blue rinse.
