(DETROIT) -- Two men appeared in a Detroit court on Thursday after being charged with allegedly trying to extort a Detroit-area restaurant owner.

Giuseppe D’Anna, 60, and Girolamo D’Anna, 48, are charged with one count of Hobbs Act conspiracy and two counts of attempted Hobbs Act extortion, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Authorities say the pair, along with other co-conspirators, tried to extort the owner of a restaurant in Shelby Township.
