While there seems to be another "dunk of the year" candidate thrown down nightly, this emphatic slam by Chane Behanan of Louisville almost locked up the honor of "dunk of the year waived off for a knee to the face."
Worrell Clahar took more than a charge when Behanan threw down a monster dunk on Wednesday night. The 5'11 senior from DePaul turned the ball over with a bad pass as he tried to break Louisville's full-court press. The pass went right into the hands of Behanan who immediately attacked the basket. Clahar anticipated that the athletic Cardinals forward would go right for the rim and stepped into his path.
Behanan nearly jumped clear over Clahar, but his knee drove into the defender's face as he threw down a one-handed dunk. The referees initially waived off the basket and called an offensive foul. But it was overturned due to Clahar being in the restricted area, per The Big Lead.
Only time will tell if it gets made into a poster. For now, this GIF compilation will do just fine.
