Jim Sacia 'Castration' Video: Lawmaker's Rant Comparing Gun Control To Neutering Goes Viral

An Illinois lawmaker's gun control rant on the House floor has quickly gone viral after the GOP Representative made a shocking comment equating firearms restrictions with chopping off his manhood.

"You folks in Chicago want me to get castrated because your families are having too many kids!" Rep. Jim Sacia of Pecatonica said Tuesday (embedded above). "It spells out exactly what’s happening here: You want us to get rid of guns."

Sacia had said the bill was being force by Chicago lawmakers — who favor much tighter gun laws than their downstate counterparts — because the city has a “runaway gun problem:”

"Don’t blame the rest of us. This isn’t about Democrats, it’s not about Republicans. It’s because Chicago wants a warm fuzzy. 'Let’s pass a bill that will eliminate assault rifles.' Last year, there were more people killed with hammers than with assault rifles."

Despite Rep. Will Davis, one of the state's top black lawmakers, calling the remark "one of the most offensive statements I've heard," Sacia told the Chicago-Sun-Times Thursday the response to his outburst has been overwhelmingly positive.

The lawmaker couldn't resist the dig at the Windy City, telling the Sun-Times, "My secretary in Freeport got one call from a lady in Chicago who insists I have a mental problem, but I would have expected that from someone in Chicago. The feedback has been unbelievably positive."

Sacia tore into gun control supporters amid a seven hour debate Tuesday as lawmakers were hashing out a bill that would comply with a federal court ruling allowing concealed carry in Illinois.

In December, a federal appeals court in Illinois struck down the state's ban on carrying concealed firearms and gave the state 180 days to craft a law regulating the carrying of weapons.
