Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz is reportedly so concerned about ex-wife Ashlee Simpson's hard partying that he's considering suing for full custody of their 4-year-old son, Bronx.
Simpson is allegedly dealing with her parents' divorce and rumors her father is gay by "downing drinks", and sources told RadarOnline that the 33-year-old rocker is so worried for his son's well-being, he doesn't know if Simpson is equipped to care for him.
“Pete is worried that Bronx’s well-being could be affected if Ashlee continues to party hard, and he’s concerned about her right now,” a source told the website. "With the situation as it is, if Ashlee doesn’t sort herself out soon, Pete believes he will have no option but to go to the courts to get this matter resolved."
The source claims that Wentz has brought his concerns to the 28-year-old singer's mother, Tina, who reassured him that he isn't overreacting and said she’s been worried about Ashlee too, but she's "heartbroken" over the thought of Ashlee losing custody of Bronx.
As Gossip Cop notes, Wentz is currently on tour in Europe, and will be touring the U.S. later this year, so it seems strange that he'd be jumping to go to court. The website claims that a member of "Wentz’s team" is adamant that there are no problems between the exes.
If RadarOnline's sources are to be believed it's possible that the very fact that Wentz is on tour and away from his son has made him all the more wary about leaving him with his ex-wife, especially since Us Weekly has previously reported that the couple's split was in part sparked by Simpson's alleged drinking problem.
A request for comment made by The Huffington Post to Wentz's rep has not been returned at this time.
