Friend Therapy: Would You Do It? (POLL)

Remember when you were a little kid and you would get into a screaming match with your best friend? You would pull her hair and she would cry and you would scream and eventually one of your parents would come over and you'd have to to apologize and tell your friend -- using your words -- why she upset you. Five minutes later you would be back to playing like nothing had happened.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could take a little time-out like that in your adult friendships? A moment to breathe and maybe someone to help you mediate the tougher stuff? Rebecca Stokes over at xoJane writes that the answer is friend therapy -- kind of like couples' therapy but with your best friend. She argues that it's actually quite logical:

Why wouldn’t shouldn’t we also plumb the clinical resources we have to maintain the relationships that sustain us, that bring us joy, that keep us sane and laughing?

We're inclined to agree with her. Our close friendships are certainly among the most important -- and dare we say consistent -- relationships in our lives, so why not apply the same resources we use to keep romantic relationships afloat to preserving platonic ones?

Would you ever go to therapy with your best friend? Take our poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
