It's that exciting time of year again when The New York Botanical Garden shares thousands of expertly curated exotic plant specimens from across the globe under one roof at the annual Orchid Show. The event, which was creatively designed by tropical plant specialist, Francisca Coelho, Vivian and Edward Merrin Vice President for Glasshouses and Exhibitions, incorporates trees that were felled by Hurricane Sandy.
Visiting the conservatory is an experience unlike any other. As guests enter into the misty, dense rain forest, palms and ferns canopy overhead, while waterfalls and pools wind throughout the exhibit. The 7,000 orchids featured in the gardens, which represent species from Australia, Africa, South America and Madagascar, offer something vivid and colorful to look at in every direction.
To celebrate the opening of the annual event, Veranda Magazine threw an orchid-themed dinner with proceeds going towards the Garden's orchid research collection and conservation. Our favorite part? Each dining table was personalized with stunning exotic orchid displays created by top interior designers such as Richard Mishaan, Vicente Wolf and Robert Couturier.
