What would you do if you stumbled onto a murder? That's the question posed by a new viral marketing promo for the film "Dead Man Down", which purports to show real people witnessing a fake murder in a New York city elevator.
The "experiment" seems only loosely related to the movie's murder/revenge theme, but with its sometimes shocking responses from the bystanders, immediately followed by the film's name and URL, it's already generating a lot of buzz.
We're not sure we buy that these people aren't all actors, however. The two guys in the elevator probably would have been arrested or seriously injured if the entire experiment were left to chance.
But for argument's sake, let's say the reactions are all genuine: Is this a valid social experiment or has viral marketing gotten out of control?
Watch the video above and let us know what you think (and, fine, what you think YOU would do if you witnessed a murder as well).
