Comedy legend Joan Rivers has new web series that takes place in a bedroom, because why not?
"In Bed With Joan" is a nearly 30-minute conversation between Rivers and a celebrity guest in a not-quite-queen-sized bed, as her first guest Sarah Silverman would describe it. At the top of each episode, the surprise interviewee "comes out of the closet" and has a seat on the bed (or in Silverman's case, under the covers) with Rivers and has a meandering conversation about just about everything. Oh, and did we mention that there's an incredibly tiny, very awkward "studio audience" laughing along the entire time? Yeah, it's pretty offbeat.
Silverman's interview kicks off the series and begins with one of comedy's most unnecessarily divisive topics: Are women funny? Naturally, Sarah answers by dismissing the entire subject with a joke:
"Why is that even an issue anymore? Women run comedy. Have you seen comedy lately? It's all Tina Fey and Whitney Cummings and Joan Rivers... All those hacks."
