Doritos Locos tacos are a lot of things. They are pretty tasty. They are a funny prop in Twitter photos. And they are Taco Bell's most successful product ever, with over 325 million sold as of last month.
They are also a source of job creation, apparently. Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed recently told Daniel Gross of The Daily Beast that as a result of launching Doritos Locos, same-store sales rose eight percent in 2012. “Last year, we added 15,000 people to handle the growth,” he said.
So, uh, at least there's a bright side to the launch of an artificially-flavored, not-particularly-good-for-you taco? We'll see how many new jobs the new Cool Ranch flavor adds.
