Wes Welker, Broncos Rumors: Denver Reportedly In 'Serious Talks' With Receiver [UPDATED]

Free agent receiver Wes Welker might be catching passes from Peyton Manning instead of Tom Brady this season.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Welker is in "serious talks" with the Denver Broncos.

Citing a league source, Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Globe tweeted that a deal between Denver and Welker is "very likely."

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald reported earlier on Wednesday that a long-term deal between New England and Welker "isn’t anywhere near close to happening."

However, Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com tweeted that the 31-year-old could still end up in New England.

“I think it would be a great move if (the Broncos) got him,” Broncos receiver Brandon Stokely told Mike Klis of The Denver Post. “I think he would be a great fit here.”

Welker, who has spent the last six seasons with the Patriots, became the first receiver in NFL history to have five 110-catch seasons, per ESPNBoston.com.

UPDATE: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Welker has agreed to a deal with the Broncos.
