West Weighs In On Rand Paul's Filibuster

Former Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) spoke briefly with The Huffington Post after he concluded his speech at CPAC.

Asked what he thought of Sen. Rand Paul’s 13-hour filibuster about concerns over President Barack Obama’s drone program, he applauded the Kentucky Republican for his physical stamina and moral certitude.

“Well, I lost a bet because I thought he would only go 11 hours,” West said. “It was a good thing. It was a good stand. I’m very happy it was done to get that common issue out there about civil liberties and constitutionality.”

The Huffington Post wanted to know if the West missed being a member of the House of Representatives, where he served from 2010 through 2012.

“I think I’m having fun,” he said, as a group of wide-eyed CPAC attendees trailed him, eager for a photo or an autograph.

But what about returning to Congress?

“God determines that,” West replied.
