Virginia's Famous Eagle Cam Pair, Virginia And James, Have Two Chicks

Virginia and James, the stars of last year's Richmond Eagle Cam, have a new home and family.

Bird expert Bryan Watts said Wednesday that he spotted "two freshly hatched chicks" in the pair's nest when he flew on an eagle survey Sunday.

Last year's Eagle Cam was a project of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Center for Conservation Biology, a research group. Watts is the center's director.

The paper and the center planned to continue the Eagle Cam again this year, but Virginia and James moved from their nest near the James' north bank in the city to a nearby but remote spot on Williams Island in the river.

Last year's Eagle Cam drew nearly 1.8 million Web page views in more than 100 countries.
