The "most famous cat in Wales" passed away on Tuesday morning and left behind hundreds of adoring friends from around the world.
Alfie, widely known as the Chepstow Cat, has been a fixture in the small Monmouthshire town since his owners moved there in 2003. He could most always be found catching some sun in front of the town's pharmacy.

His owner Caroline Gammon, 54, told the Mirror that Alfie was "much-loved and brought a smile to people every day."
Alfie was constantly delighting strangers and befriending passersby, so much so that Gammon decided to set up his very own Facebook page last July.
“He had a good life and friends all over the world. We’ve had messages from as far away as Australia and South Africa,” Gammon said to the Mirror.
The 19-year-old cat spent much of the final weeks of his life indoors where it was warm, and several commenters told them how much they missed the familiar sight of him on the corner. Almost 500 people have reached out on Alfie's page since Gammon shared the news of his passing.
A local pub called the Coach and Horses has organized a wake in Alfie's honor for this Sunday. The pub's landlord Ian Meyrick decided to put together the memorial to pay tribute to the beloved feline.
“Alfie is world famous," Meyrick told the South Wales Argus, "He was so gentle and docile and a really lovely cat."
Chepstow's town council is now considering honoring Alfie as the most famous cat in Wales.
