'Once Upon A Time' Spinoff To Be Set In Wonderland, Jane Espenson And Zack Estrin Now On Board

Looking for another happy ending? The brains behind "Once Upon A Time" have got you covered.

According to THR, "Once" consulting producer Jane Espenson and Zach Estrin of ABC's "Zero Hour" have signed on to work on the ABC fairytale drama's spinoff series, which will be set in Wonderland.

Originally thought to center on the Mad Hatter -- played by Sebastian Stan on "Once" -- rumors had swirled that the role would be recast. Fans were initially outraged, and producers are now saying they have no plans to recast Stan's role.

They are, however, looking for actors to play Alice, The Knave and the mysterious Amahl. No decisions have yet been made, but a short "teaser" will be shot in April with a pilot filming in late July or August.

ABC isn't the only network with "Alice In Wonderland" on its radar. "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker is currently working on an "Alice In Wonderland"-themed pilot for NBC, which is set to take place several years after Alice's adventures down the rabbit hole, making her the reigning queen of all wonderland. A new character named Clara will play the villain who attempts to take her down.

"Once Upon A Time" airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
