New York Magazine's "Retro Wife" cover story has caused quite a stir after profiling women who choose to stay at home with their kids. One media outlet went as far as declaring "feminism's over!" But Kelly Makino, the cover mom at the center of the controversy, says the article doesn't exactly tell the full story. On HuffPost Live Wednesday, Makino explained that the real reason she decided to stay at home was because her work salary wasn't enough to cover the costs of child care, dry cleaning, and other expenses associated with juggling full-time employment and motherhood.
