Hey, everybody! Prince is coming to town! Let's go crazy!
Yes, you heard right. The Purple One, the Jehova's Witness who means business, the guy who once kicked Charlie Murphey's ass in basketball, the biggest jerk in music, the artist formerly known at the Artist Formerly Known As Prince, is headed to San Francisco this April for four shows at DNA Lounge.
NBC Bay Area reports:
Last night during a podcast hosted by DrFunkenberry.com, the ladies behind Prince's new protégé band 3rd Eye Girl (Donna Grantis, Hanna Ford-Welton, and Ida Nielsen) announced that they will tour with the Purple One.
Prince is expected to play April 23 and 24, with two shows each night. The event doesn’t yet show up on the venue's concert calendar, but those two nights don't appear to have been filled with anything else. SF Weekly notes that there have been some rumors about the small club hosting a massive show sometime in the near future.
Fresh off an instantly legendary set at this year's South By Southwest festival in Austin, these shows are part of a West Coast tour that also includes Vancouver, Seattle, Las Vegas and San Diego.
Performing at the DNA Lounge will be something of a homecoming for Prince, who used to play unpublicized secret shows there in the mid-1990s when it was co-owned by actor Rob Schneider.
