A few know about it -- and even fewer get the VIP invite to be part of the very exclusive Motorola Music Lounge presented by Sirius XM, SOL Republic and Armani Exchange at the W Hotel on South Beach. For three days, a secluded section by the pool gets transformed into a retreat where guests not only enjoy cocktails by Corzo and relax in the pool but also get to hear and see the likes of Markus Schulz play live.
A major surprise set happened when Afrojack jumped on the decks with Calvin Harris. And new to me was Krewella; heard them for the first time and met all three in the lounge wearing their SOL headphones.
Many other DJs like Avicii and Steve Aoki stopped in for a quick interview with Sirius XM Radio while others, some of the best on the EDM scene, drop by for a live set or to snag their own pair of headphones.
Speaking of which, I missed out on getting my pair. I fell in love with the neon pink ones -- ahem.
After four years, this is one of my favorite parties to dance to, hear and see up and coming DJs as well as the legends of the decks. Plus, there’s cocktails and food, you can dip in the pool, and the VIPs are just hanging out on a weekday afternoon in Miami Beach.
I’d recommend Krewella if you don’t know them already. A little dubstep, electro house meets synthpop progressive. -- JIPSY
